SOMETHING MAGIC is a development centre for exploring immersive XR performances.Our mission is to empower narratives from underrepresented storytellers. Our focus is connecting new voices to a new medium-nurturing and exploring digital works by diverse artists.
SOMETHING MAGIC creates participatory storytelling experiences, drawing upon the cultural traditions of live performance, breathing life into virtual, augmented, and mixed reality.
Trans Magic Lab is a collective of 6 transgender artists working on the creation of 5-minute VR/XR works created around the theme of transger spirit. The works are meant to be experienced collectively with the aim of bringing audiences into the passions, histories, spiritual transformations and inner worlds of transgender artists.
Magic Labs is a development program for diverse storytellers to explore new work (Prioritizing Queer/Trans, BIPOC, and Neurodivergent Artists).
SOMETHING MAGIC selected a cohort of 6 Canadian storytellers from across artistic disciplines with an interest in exploring XR in their creation work. For six months, these artists were given individualized tools and mentorship to explore their own XR project.
